A Stroll on the Moon
2025
A spatial exploration of imagination, perception, and functionality of the museum environment.

Our approach is to reimagine the outdoor area of theKunstmuseum as a living, exploratory landscapewhere art, people, and nature merge together.Inspired by H.P. Berlage’s vision of the museum as an“urban jungle,” we extend this idea beyond Earth—conceptually transporting the Kunstmuseum to themoon. This lunar reference, reinforced by the Berlagecrater that was named after him, becomes a metaphorfor entering the museum as if landing in a newatmosphere: a place free from expectations and opento discovery.
Through this speculative transformation, we aim toshow how imagination can open a dialogue about newfutures for the Kunstmuseum. By expanding themuseum’s identity into its surroundings and offeringan active, imaginative terrain, the design celebratesexploration, community, and the freedom toencounter art in unexpected and inspiring ways.
